The CNV Workshop was held from 21-25 April 08 at the Eye & Retina Surgeons, Camden Medical Centre. Four eye specialists from Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam had a first-hand look at the diagnosis and treatment of retinal conditions such as wet AMD, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein obstruction and inherited diseases. They attended daily lectures on the current management to these conditions. They had the opportunity of hands-on learning of interpretation of fluorescein and indocyanine green angiograms, as well as OCT images. They were also taught how to perform photodynamic therapy and intravitreal injection therapy.

In research, Dr Koh is the principal investigator of a landmark trial assessing verteporfin photodynamic therapy and intravitreal Lucentis for polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, a subtype of wet AMD. The first of its kind in the world, it hopes to provide answers to the best and most effective treatment for this blinding condition. Recruitment has begun and the trial is conducted at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Enquiries can be directed to Dr Adrian Koh at 6738 2000.
