Dr Yeoh was invited to Macao on 7-9 March 2008 to chair a session on Advanced Lens Implant Technology and to deliver a lecture to 200 international eye doctors on the Acrysof Natural Lens implant, a lens implant that both enhances vision and protects the retina after cataract surgery.
Dr Yeoh was Chairman of the organizing committee for the 18th Anniversary SNEC International Meeting held from 14-17 March 2008. As Chairman, he structured the scientific programme and proposed the theme, “The Practical Ophthalmologist” so that eye specialists, nurses and technical staff from all over the region could learn something concrete and useful from this meeting.
He also delivered a plenary lecture entitled “A Toric Topic” referring to his experience with the Toric or Astigmatic lens implant in Singapore.

Over 600 delegates attended the meeting and there were many highlights: Dr Yeoh chaired the comprehensive 3 D Live surgery programme which featured cutting edge surgery from every subspecialty, a hands-on imaging course, many teaching courses and symposia.

Dr Yeoh also went to Chicago from 4-9 April 2008 for the annual meeting of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons from 3-10 April 2008 where he was the chief instructor on his cataract surgery teaching course “Pearls and Pitfalls in Beginning Phaco”. He was also co-instructor on another two courses with Prof Chee Soon Phaik and Dr Raymond Loh from SNEC on “Phaco Chop” and “Managing Complications in Phaco”. The sessions were very well attended.
As Secretary of the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (APACRS), Dr Yeoh was one of the surgeons who represented the Asia-Pacific in a joint plenary symposium, ‘Around the World in 90 minutes’ in which surgeons representing the 4 major international cataract and refractive societies, ie the American Society (ASCRS), the European society (ESCRS) and the Latin-American society (LACCS) presented their views on controversial cataract topics relevant to their part of the world.
